My Experience at the Cherry Blossom Festival in South Korea.
I went to the Cherry Blossom festival in Youi-do(an island) off Seoul. I was very excited to see the Cherry Blossom and I love going to festivals. You have to take a ferry there. Which is a nice ride on the Han River. You get to see the skyline. I bet it's gorgeous at night.
I went with my recruiting agency so I could meet some new people. When we got to the island there were soooo many people there. There were many vendors and flowers were everywhere. I just wanted to go to the festival... but that didn't end up happening. We did a whole walking tour of the island and ended up at a park in the middle of the island.
Needless to say I was very upset I wanted to see the festivities and take pictures with the flowers. So my friend and I hiked back to where the festival was being held (more than a mile away from where we were). We took some pictures and returned home not seeing much of the festivities.
In hind sight I would have worn more comfortable shoes and broke away from the group when we were near the festival. I have problems with my ankle so I'm not able to walk long distances but in Korea all you do is walk. By the time we were done with the tour I was exhausted, sweaty, and had blisters.
If you plan to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Korea please make sure you pay attention as they only bloom for 10 days. Make sure you get your ferry tickets. There is now also a train to get there so that may save on the amount of walking you have to do. There is alot of walking so make sure you are wearing comfortable attire. Obviously bring a camera because there are many beautiful flowers and nice exhibits to see. Pick a day when it is sunny. If you can plan to have a picnic because it really is beautiful.
For 2021 the Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival it is April 5- 11. There are many other Cherry Blossom festivals all over Korea.
